CJ and Tyler Tearin' It Up

    CJ Maszal (Junior at Wayne State University) and Tyler Hall (Junior at Central Michigan University) started the 2011 season hot and have stayed hot!  Both players are leading their respective teams in 9 offensive categories.
    
    Tyler Hall is leading the Chippewas with a .340 average (thru 40 games) in his first year with the team.  In 2009 and 2010 Tyler played at Grand Rapids Community College where he posted a .481 batting average in '09 and backed it up the next year with a .482 average.  Those numbers were good for 8th in the nation in '09 and 18th in '10.  Both years he earned first team All-America honors and All-Region XII honors. 

    In addition to batting average, Tyler is also leading CMU in slugging (.503), on base pct (.446), hits (52), triples (6), total base (77), walks (24), hit by pitch (7) and stolen bases (12).

    CJ Maszal is dominating the GLIAC (great lakes intercollegiate athletic conference) with a sizzling .450 batting average.  CJ's trip was a bit longer than Tyler's with stops at Ohio University and Grand Rapids Community College before settling down at Wayne State.  With Maszal in the line-up the Warriors are off to a 26-11 start and sit in second place in the GLIAC (behind GVSU).

     Through 33 games, CJ is leading his team in all the top offensive categories...Batting avg (.450), slugging (.661), on base pct (.535), runs scored (33), hits (49), doubles (13), triples (5), total bases (72) and walks (18).  As of April 19th, Maszal's .467 batting average ranked 5th in NCAA Division II and best in the conference. 

    After these two outstanding hitters finish their spring seasons they will join the Michigan Bulls Collegiate team for the third straight summer.  With their play and the help of players like Jason Hockemeyer (Grand Rapids Community College) and Jacob Rhodes (Murray State) the Bulls won the Livonia Collegiate League Championship in 2009 and 2010 (7th since 2002).
